See EnterpriseWhat is e-Fapiao China?
China's fully digitalised invoice (全面数字化的电子发票, e-Fapiao for short) has been in nationwide use since 2023. The signed XML file is what counts: it is the accounting record, while PDF and OFD are only renderings of the same transaction. It is issued through the tax portal, which also assigns the invoice number — outside that route no valid invoice comes into being. Two properties shape the reading: the tax rate is written as a decimal fraction, so 0.13 means 13 per cent; and company name, address, item description and unit of measure are in Chinese characters with no latin fallback field — Docuflair carries them through unchanged rather than inventing a transliteration. A red-letter document with negative amounts is treated as a credit note. Special forms, for construction, freight or passenger transport among others, are read as far as they follow the base structure; their additional data Docuflair names rather than guesses.
