    What is EDIFACT?

    UN/EDIFACT is the international UN standard for electronic data interchange (EDI); invoices use the INVOIC message type. The format has been established in retail and industry for decades (e.g. as the EANCOM subset), but it does not itself fulfil EN 16931 — for e-invoicing mandates an EDIFACT INVOIC must be converted into a format such as XRechnung or ZUGFeRD.
